About Bats
Bats are beneficial insect-eaters in nature, but when they roost in your attic or eaves, they become a pest problem. Common in Mid-Missouri are small brown bats that often form colonies in buildings. You might suspect bats if you hear squeaking or rustling in the attic at dusk, or find bat droppings (guano) piled up below roof joints or in the attic.
